Gunter Creative is a full service studio specializing in handmade books and graphic design.
JD and Jenny Gunter met at the Kansas City Art Institute. They both received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Design Department but each concentrated on different areas. Jenny took a class in Calligraphy and bookmaking in their second semester. This ended up being what she enjoyed the most. After school she spent 5 years at the Houston Chronicle, then "retired" from her Art Director position to take care of baby Ben and start her own business as a freelance designer. But, she never let go of her love of books and now sells them at Art Festivals, on etsy.com and by special order. Jenny's handmade books are used as photo albums, journals, address books & sketchbooks. As a designer her favorite projects are invitations and announcements. She also has experience in logo design, website design, mural painting, hand-painted signs and calligraphy.
In Kansas City JD concentrated on more 3D and sculptural work. His whimsical wood toys have been sold in the American Craft Museum in New York City. JD went back to school to get his teaching certificate and now teaches Art to grades K to 5 and logo/t-shirt design at a Rock Music Camp in the summers. He also plans to "retire" as soon as he can to build wood toys and furniture full time.
